THANKUSOMUCH

Pop/Jazz/Neo-Soul/R&B Band from PDX

THANKUSOMUCH is a musical collective led by Alex Koehler. Performing a wide variety of styles with excitement and authenticity, they’ve been performing on some of the Pacific Northwest’s best stages for the better half of the last decade.

Thankusomuch is the result of some of PDX’s very best young musicians bonding over a shared interest in pop, soul, R&B, hip-hop, and jazz. Whether they’re paying homage to the brilliant artists of past decades, playing inventive arrangements of modern pop-tunes, profusely thanking audience members and venue staff, or showcasing melodically tasteful and harmonically advanced original numbers, Thankusomuch is all about groove and (mostly non-ironic) gratitude.

Led by bassist/pianist Alex Koehler, Thankusomuch includes some of the best local talent to round out their powerful sound. Often featuring talented vocalists such as Jimmie Herrod, Michal Angela Wilson, Rich Hunter, Edan Krolewicz, and Chibia, Thankusomuch has had the immense pleasure of working with dozens of incredible local singers over the past few years. The phenom’ instrumentalists regularly participating in Thankusomuch performances and recordings include Josh Clark (guitar), Michael Wiest (guitar), Kristof Schroeder (alto sax/flute), Paul Paresa (keys), Machado Mijiga (drums/sax), Steven Skolnik (drums/percussion), Kyle Lissman (bass), Corey Foster (drums), Noah Simpson (trumpet).

Thankusomuch has recently been a featured artist with the PDX Jazz Festival and Soul’d Out Music Festival. They were also the Neo-Soul Sunday house band at the Jack London Revue from 2016-2018, and shared the stage with nationally performing artists like Bilal, Dead Prez, and De La Soul. They have played sold-out shows at The Roseland Theater, Star Theater, Dante’s, Jimmy Mak’s, The Jack London Revue, and The Portland Armory.
